The Reggae community lost one it’s greatest drummers on October 9, 2014 when Lincoln “Style” Scott was murdered in his home in Jamaica. Style, a member of Roots Radics, was one of my biggest influences as a Reggae drummer. We are still hurting from this senseless killing. We will pay tribute to Style on Thursday, Dec. 18 at our monthly “Dub Connection” gig at the Whistler in Chicago. We will play originals as well as some of the legendary tracks that Style recorded. Style Scott is gone but NOT forgotten.

Honing in on sounds drawn from Jamaica invariably abut America’s jazz tradition. Drummer Ted Sirota’s more than vaguely familiar with both. But his estrangement from reggae and dub didn’t occur because of lacking fealty. The drummer just found himself more easily insinuated into jazz ensembles.
Join us on Sept. 20, 2013 to celebrate the release of the debut album from Ted Sirota’s Heavyweight Dub with the Legendary Dub Chemist – The Scientist! “The Scientist Meets Ted Sirota’s Heavyweight Dub” will be released to the public on this date. Dancehall legend Shinehead, and the great General Jah Mikey will be flying in with The Scientist to join us for this show. As if that’s not enough, one of Chicago’s finest Hip-Hop MC’s, Diverse, will also be sitting in with us. The show is part of the 2013 Chicago World Music Festival and is FREE to the public! Get there early because it will “sell out”. Check out the Facebook Event page here.
